How do you graple in the smackdown vs raw 2008 demo?
lol i cant figure it out! the controls are so diffrent and you cant change them lol so can someone help me out? and they dont have a tutorial
And yes the demo has came out you have to go to game stop and reserve the game and they will give you the demo for Xbox 360

Edit: I got the demo today. You hold the Right Bumper button to do the strong grapple. It's similar to SvR 2007 in some ways. But, from what I've figured out, only the left and right strong grapples trigger the Ultimate Control moves. In the end, if you've play SvR 2007, it's almost the same in this game.

Does Judo depend on the Gi for takedowns?
I really like Judo, but I noticed that a lot of the takedowns are based on the Gi. I do NO Gi submission grappling( BJJ, JKD, Wrestling) and I have grappled some Judo guys. I noticed that they kept trying to use my shirt in there takedown attempts, but my shirt would just rip so I would end up taking them down with a double leg takedown. For some reason the single and double leg takedowns seem to present themselves against the Judo guys I grappled.
Personally I am starting to believe wrestling has the best takedowns for NO Gi grappling.
If you believe I am wrong please explain why? But lets keep the name calling out of it! Instead win me over by giving me valid points!

However, when employing a wrestling take down against an opponent who is familiar with Judo/ Jiu Jitsu technique you need to avoid the choke; because it is often available to your opponent who you are trying to use the single or double leg take down against.

I like to pummel and fit one of my arms under the arm pit around there back it gives me a feel similar to Gi.
I think you just need to practice alot. Look at Karo Parsian he always seems to win the takedowns.
Another thing without a Gi you need to be more conscious of level changes. The wrestlers will hit you every time if you stay high and they go low. In Judo it isn't as important because you can use the gi to stop there momentum more easily.

Grappling is basicly wrestling, but not like "professional" Wrestling, ground fighting as it is sometimes also referred to is often based on submitting your opponent through positioning yourself so that you can apply the techniques that can hinder your opponent (if applied properly) causing them pain or discomfort which is often called pain compliance. often the pain can be so severe, it will cause the opponent to "tap out" which means they are submitting.
sometimes if they do not submit and continue to struggle against the technique, an injury can occur, such as broken bones, or dislocating joints in the body (such as the shouder)

You can't always tell for sure that it didn't reach the ground, but if it looks like it's evaporating 8000 feet above the ground, it probably is. Or, maybe you can see it right over your head, and no raindrops are hitting the ground around you.
There's no connection, per se, between virga and grapple. The former describes the behavior of the precipitation, and the latter describes it's characteristics. Virga can be snowflakes, grapple or rain.
Bonus info!: Virga is good at creating microbursts.

IFL or WCL?
I just finished watching both and they're both exciting. However the WCL (World Combat League) has absolutely no grappling and the Honorable Chuck Norris has said, "People want knock outs, not tap outs"...I'm not so sure Chuck. The IFL (Int'l Fighting League) is pure MMA with striking and grappling, and that's what I prefer. Martial arts as a whole are limited when you leave out key aspects to fighting. be it striking, grappling, footwork, conditioning, etc. So I'm wondering: Who likes which one better...and why? This isn't 'striking vs grappling', but a genuine question as to what you think is more entertaining. Is is just striking? Or a mix of striking and grappling? Or grappling?

Grapple Apples?
I bought some 'Grapples' at Wal-Mart and they taste really good! On the box thing it said that it 'Looks Like an Apple and Tastes Like a Grape', thats not really true though. However they are VERY sweet and crunchy and I was just wondering exactly what kind of apples are they?
They have a very bright beautiful red bottom and at the top is orangey-yellow and slightly greenish at the stem. Overall it is small and very round in size. Any guesses on what they are?

What conditions the wepons of the body and yet has some knowledge of grappling? im thinking about taking wing tsun because of the liner approach but i allways see people get diped by that i mean picked up and then somehow ended up on the ground then there getting pounded on. . .i dont want that to be me. . .but then again i sen gracie get his teqniques used againced him and other grappelers that arnt good on striking. . . i havent really heard anything bad about shotokan karate. . .my friend keeps telling me ninjutsu but the dojo seems like a cult and the seni doesnt seem like hes been teaching long?id want an expierianced teacher in an effective art. . .it also depends of body frame im 5'11 180 i like to use my hands but aknowledge being quick on the feet once a grapple gets you i think its over. . .so what im asking what is a martal art which has a stron defence quick offence and has some aces up the sleeves you know like a secret well rounded ground and grapple. . .No sports please

A good mix is hard to find, wing tsun is a good choice, but you have to find a good school. Another good choice is a school where they teach MMA. I'd also try freestyle karate, as they teach you standing and grappling. I like Shidokan karate alot, they train kyokushen karate striking, muay thai, and grappling, it's called the triathlon of martial arts, and it was founded by one of Mas Oyama's best pupils, as a matter fact the video game street fighter's main character (Ryu) is loosely based on this guy.
If you are going for one art, I'd go for one of those

Reply:I might be a bit biased as I teach Aikijujutsu, But I feel that Aikijujutsu might be what you are looking for. Good Aikijujutsu has a strong defense and avoidance techniques, fast and powerful striking, stand up grappling, throws, ground fighting, defenses against takedowns and plenty of breaks, real pressure points(not the crazy death touch stuff, just weak points), chokes/strangles, weapon defenses, etc..
I'll also second the other guy who answered just before me, Jujutsu of many types would also fit the bill and has a description similar to the aiki above, but a different feel.
By strong defense, I'm assuming you mean a good avoidance of damage. Other styles such as krav maga and muay thai fit the bill also, but tend to block and absorb a bit more damage than adjusting the range and avoiding the impact. depending on your mindset and body-type, they may also be of interest to you. You mention shotokan, Good shotokan might possibly fit what you are looking for, but it is hard to find, usually you'll get the watered down crap that passes for karate lately unless you are lucky.
Ninjutsu falls in above shotokan by a good margin but is in the same situation. Good if you can find a good school.

Reply:free style karate and shotokan are very well rounded when it comes to a martial art to use in real life situations,i had the same problem as you, i practiced muay thai for two years and it was great i was able to use it very well but i got screwed whenever i ended on the ground with someone heavier than me,i think that a good martial art for you would be aikijujitsu it has an amazing combination of striking,grappling ground fighting and very effective counters,foget vale tudo and brazilian jiu jitsu,they r good in the ring where the are rules but loose in the real world, i would try enshin karate first or any other form of free style karate first (then try looking into aikijiujitsu to see if u like it) ninjutsu is more than just a martial art, it is about stealth,survival and assassination methods,I doubt that they really teach it every where,karate is definitely more available and u r more likely to find a good and experienced instructor in it (shotokan is also very good if u don t find enshin karate anywhere)
