Reply:Several years ago I studied at an school run by Horian and Royce Gracie, classes were $50.00 per month BUT private lessons were $300.00 per hour. But that was Royce. How good you are can greatly appreciate people's willingness to pay a higher rate! Good Luck
Reply:In general classes are $50 to $80 a month unless they are private one on one lessons. Then it depends on what you value your time at. I usually charge $35 for a one hour private lesson. My students get their money's worth and I have had no complaints and many private lessons.

A blue belt in BJJ I take it if you want to teach grappling.
Well, you can charge as much as you want but you might want to take a look around and base your price off availability. In Long Beach there are ton of great schools for BJJ and grappling. And the thing you always have to consider is the value of what you can teach. If some 10th Planet BJJ blue belt comes in and tools ya, then that obviously will affect your bottom line.
I would say 50 bucks a month for small groups, for someone of your caliber, even that is pressing it as someone can probably get trained for 70 bucks from a BJJ black belt in that area.
Privates go a lot higher, but that is usually because you are buying the time of someone who is worth it.
What was your amatuer record? I would probably advertise off that, and work on getting a little higher grade than blue belt, those are a dime a dozen. Not sure I would highlight a pro career of 0-1 with a 1st round loss as a credential.

Regardless, you don't need to be a black belt or a grandmaster in order to guide/teach people, but you must be humble about it for the reason stated above.
Usually instructors charge $55 to $70 for a private lesson, I'd suggest you charge $30 to $50 as to get new business, and the cost could be split amont the group (considering is small, maybe four,five people).
If you want to make decent moneny, you need a certificate, it'd be an investment.

Look, straight up the only ones truly worth it are the ones that have constant randori and practice (sparring) ones in which you can fight to near 100 percent and train at realistically. Go through forms and practicing things on a compliant partner (i.e. Chin Na, JiuJitsu, Aikido) simply isn't realistic.
Judo, Wrestling (Freestyle, Folk, Greco) Catch Wrestling, Sambo, and No Gi Submission based wrestling are the best ways to go. You can go full out, you can spar many body types and even enter tournaments to test your skills under adrenaline based situations with a full resisting opponent to truly learn your skills.
