Can a person lose 40lbs. in 8 weeks?

I am trying to enter a grappling compitition and I want to get in a lower weight class. Is it possible to get in lean shape by 8 weeks. I am 5'6 and 205lbs. I want to weigh about 169lbs, is that possible?

Can a person lose 40lbs. in 8 weeks?
It's hard and not healthy but possible.


I lost 25 lbs in 5 weeks walking every morning, working hard in gym and taking pills.

Reply:Yes that's possible but not fun and likely unhealthy.
Reply:NO, don't do that!! A healthy weight loss is 2 pounds per week. If you lose much faster than that you will have saggy skin. Not worth it!!!
Reply:Uhm yes I think its possible. Its not legall and I wouldn't do it, but you could take meth. Thats what the models do. Also you could try making yourself puke.
Reply:Sure it's possible but you won't have the energy to do anything at the end and you could eat and pea and gain 20lbs!





Enter a different class or wait until the next time
Reply:I think so if your willing to lose weight then you have a good chance i say don give up and be safe ^.^
Reply:It is only healthy to loose about 1-2 pounds a week. So realistically, with a balanced diet and a lot of cardio you could stand to loose 16-20lbs in 8 weeks.





If you try for the 40 and starve yourself, you will not only loose fat, you will loose muscle. This my friend would defeat the purpose.
Reply:No...that much is impossible unless you chop your legs off!!


Now joking aside....


If you do a semi-fast with only live foods (fruit and fresh vegetables), you could probably take off about 25 to 30 lbs. However this must be done under the strict supervision of a naturopath doctor.


I know, I did it... I went to the doctors center, and lost about 20 pounds in a little over a month, but it isn't easy!
Reply:its not impossible...but hustling is never cool..specially when your reducing weight..

walk for an hour a day, and go on a liquid-only diet that includes healthy meal replacement shakes.

The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice.
