If you could only train martial arts for 15 minutes at a time, solo, what would you do?

I used to do Kali/JKD until about 10 years ago when I got fibroymalgia. One of the symptoms is that I can only do anything aerobic for 15 minutes or less. Most partners and all gyms find this intolerable, so most of my training is solo. I do strength training every other session, and that's going good. I do shadowboxing and hit one of those B.O.B.s during the alternating days. I got sick about when grappling became a given. Are there things I can do with the top of BOB for grappling? Thanks for any ideas.

ok..

so you wan to know what can a martial artist do if he only gets a 15 minute..

as everyone is ....i believe you are too training for strength ,,this doesnt mean that you must keep boxing and kicking inspite of your issues...you can earn everything with exercises that deal only with your breathe...i hope you know...

its better to get slow in your actions holding your muscles tight..remember "goal is nothing to gain or reach but it is to be aimed"....so dont just jump and do all that you can....but limit itself and try to make a capsule out of it...
Reply:You can practice a couple of stand up grappling moves on a BOB. Other then that you pretty much would need either a floor bag or a bag that has arms and legs. Even if you can't find a partner to work out with, keep up the training. One of my sisters has fibromyalgia. She has trouble doing anything for a sustained period of time. Just keep working out.
Reply:I commend you for continuing training in spite of your health condition. I am not familiar with your health condition. Is the only reason you train for self defense ability? If so I don't think I can give you any better advice than Ray H did, other than to suggest you get a concealed carry permit and attend a good combat shooting school, but this has its own drawbacks, especially if it gets taken away from you.

If you are not interested only in self defense I would suggest looking for a traditional school that is not obsessed with belt testings. Find a local dojo. They are more willing to work around your health issues, and should welcome you to train with them. I know that my school would. Traditional styles also have kata's, that can be performed slow, but you can take those and practise the self defense from them. If learned and taught correctly, the kata eventually becomes formless when in application, and when its for real you might do a movement from the begining, followed by a move from the middle.

What area do you live in?
Reply:Poomse/Kata were designed for such practice....

But, Century also sells a grappling buddy (granted, it is for a child...) for that. They also sell ukemi balls for judo practice along with videos by Swain himself on how to use them.
Reply:Cossack dancing is good execise
Reply:Wing Chun. Complete form can be done in a few min. It does not require a lot of strength as it relies on speed and redirecting .
