Has anyone tried the new genetically engineered fruit the Grapple?

It's an apple that taste like a grape. I have seen them in grocery stores. They cost about $6.00 each so I haven't tried it yet.

I don't think it's genetically engineered. I was told by the produce manager that its simply injected with grape juice.
Reply:No! They look really, really scary... I'm a bio student and genetic engineering scares the crap out of me.
Reply:I used to see them around the stores, but haven't in about 1 year. I don't think they did well in my area.

Sorry.
Reply:Yeah, they are way too high for me also.
Reply:Yes, it is simply an apple that is grape scented when you eat it...don't think it is worth the expense. Just bought it once to check it out.
Reply:An Apple that taste like a grape??? hmmm I like my grapes grapes and apples apples.
Reply:I tried one once. It tasted like an apple coated in perfume and was mushy. Not a fan, especially at that price.
Reply:wow! $6.00 each! we tried them once, when they frist came out. they were like 4 for $4.00 then. maybe that's why i have not seen them at the grocery. they really have gone up. they taste great, but not that great that i'd pay that much
Reply:yeah, I had them about 2-3 years ago. To me, they smell like grapes, but still taste like apples.
Reply:Check the packaging again...the ones I've seen are actually just Fuji apples that have been scented...Hey, it was marketed well enough for me to fall for it and buy them.

I didn't notice a differant taste...
