I heard of this martial art from Wikipedia. However,Wikipedia once stated they will delete it because Wikipedians believed it was a fake martial art invented by troublemakers.However,currently,Wikipedi... accepted Zipota as real after someone added more soures. From what I heard,Zipota is similar to the French Kickboxing Martial Art Savate, except that it is more brutal, with grappling and throwing techniques even in competition.Anyone could leave me a reliable website about this art besides wikipedia?Anyone could show me a site that has videos showing zipota fights and how to learn Zipota techniques?Anyone could tell me where I can learn this art in the U.S.?Please respond.
Anyone heard opf the Basques Martial Art Zipota?Anyone know if it`s real?
Zipota is usually taught only in Spain it's very similar to Savate but incorpoates maneuvers %26amp; grappling from Bullfighting. If you saw a movie by the name of The Quest with Jean Claude Van Damme a fighter from Spain uses Zipota in the movie. It's taught out here but as a division of Savate by a few people that usually learn from family members. I know of only one person teaching in the US Zipota but it's under a different name good luck don't try actting like Vega from Street Fighter.
Reply:You may be on a fruitless search if it is a regional art and not a national art .Savate is a national art and is known and practiced in many parts of the world zipota seems to be regional used mainly by french and spanish basques and probably only practiced by a few.
Also the name sounds somewhat like the basque art SABOT meaning "the foot"at which the mountain smugglers were quite adept and gave SAVATE it's name .
A sabot is a type of heavy boot used for hiking and mountain climbing.
There are many arts rumoured as being more brutal more effective etc etc etc .Closer examination usually reveals that is the estimation of those who haven't been fully exposed to other forms .
All forms are equally as brutal and contain throwing locking choking breaking methods while effectiveness is going to depend on the practioners skill in applying the technique .
