I have chronic de-quervains tenosinovitus, which affects the tendons in my left wrist, so I cant do grappling or open handed striking. I can make a fist and am thinking something like Wing-Chun, or Tai-Chi (is Tai Chi a martial art?) . I need to get fit again and cannot do weight training anymore becasue of the injury. Any help appreciated. I live in London, any dojo recommendations?
Whats a good martial art for someone with a hand injury?
i wish i could have magic

Reply:Tai-Chi is a wonderful idea for you. Yes, it is a marital art. Instead of striking an object (which would aggravate your injury) you do smooth yet strong constant moves. I have a back injury and found Tai-Chi was exactly what I needed to help me mend. It gives you the power of movement back but it also teaches you how to center yourself and draw energy from your inner self "chi".
I don't live in London but there should be many places you can go to learn more. Just visit some of the studios, speak to the instructors, explain your injury and see which one you're most comfortable.
Best of luck with your injury. Tai-Chi may be just what you need to cure your chronic pain.
Reply:Kick boxing. Try Google for places where they do this stuff.
Reply:I think Tai Chi would be good, there are books and videos you can learn
from. Tai Chi is about the mind and body and it requires no certain age
anyone can do it.
Reply:try the ancient glaswegian martial art of headbutsu jimi
Reply:im not shure what its called, but if you played tales of symphonia, you saw this guy called regal. he fought completely with his feet, as his hands were in shackels, see if you can fight completely with your feet.
you need really good balence, though...
im not coordinated enough to do it...
Reply:de Quervain's tenosynovitis doesn't have to be chronic. Why don't you have it treated? Then you can take up whatever martial arts you like.
Reply:use your legs like kick boxing holding your injured hand behind you
