GSP is a better wrestler than Koscheck?

I'm not sure if Otto Olsen is a recognizable name to most of you, but he came on the scene in ADCC in 2003. He won all of his three first matches and lost only to Marcelo Garcia. He wrestled for Michigan in college and became the top ranked 174 pound wrester.





Now how does this relate to GSP and Kos? Well who did Otto Olsen beat to become the number one ranked 174 pound wrester? You guessed it: Koscheck. You can read about it here if you need a source: http://media.www.michigandaily.com/m...-...





Ok, so how does GSP fall into this? Well GSP actually defeated Otto Olsen in a submission grappling match! Thats right, ADCC runner-up and NCAA champion wrestler Otto Olsen lost to GSP during ADCC 2005 (http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance...t... And its not like GSP won with a quick submission or "caught" Olsen, he grinded out a decision, usually the route taken by the better wrestler.

GSP is a better wrestler than Koscheck?
GSP's MMA ground game is excellent along with the fact that he is long limbed which is great for submission. I think Kos will have to be very careful he does not leave a head, arm or both hanging out their.





I would say GSP is the better wrestler when it comes to MMA bouts.
Reply:Well what I can't stand is that everybody is talking about Koscheck handing a loss to Diego. Who else seen that fight. Koscheck was purposely just trying to out point Diego. It isnt even going to be like that fighting GSP. Koscheck is completly outclassed here. If it was a wrestling only match then he has a chance. GSP will push the pace and walk all over him unless Koscheck throughs one hell of a lucky punch.
Reply:MMAth don't make it true. If that's the case Gonzanga is the better kick boxer then Crocop because he KO'ed Crocop a K1 champion with a head kick.





Plus ADCC and college wrestling is 2 different things. That's like saying a Pancrease champion is better then a jiujitsu champion.





Jeff Monson is a top ADCC fighter and former ADCC champion. But is he a better wrestler then Matt Hughes ? NO.
Reply:The wrestling isn't anywhere neer the same level. Even though I dont like Kos I believe he is the best wrestler in MMA I also think Matt Grice would be a close second had he not had some severe injuries while starting for OU after being a 4 time state champion and 3 time outstanding wrestler at the state tournament . but I do agree with you that GSP is such an athlete and has good enough wrestling and great sub skills to handle Kos his wrestling isn't quite there.And he beat Olsen u say in a sub match so if and when GSP beats Kos in a fight he still wouldnt beat him in a wrestling match. And styles in a fight can cause one person to destroy someone and loose to a guy that lost to the person they destroyed.
Reply:Koscheck is the best wrestler I've seen in MMA. The thing is, he almost never does any damage dominating the wrestling--he is just on top and dominant. No good elbows or anything. He is still young though and can learn those skills--but wow he is such a dominant wrestler. Off topic a bit: GSP sure seems like a class act.
