i've been training in BJJ for the past 3 weeks now. i have 3 trainers at my school. last week one of the trainers asked me if i did any grappling sport before such Bjj or Judo. I said no, which is true. i told him i played basketball since i was 10. im 28 now and im only 173cm in hieght. the thing is i really love Bjj and im absorbing it very quick "i think". anyway today i put someone in an arm lock and he tapped out very late , then he made a scene and said that he tapped and i i didnt stop. i think it was pure ego he didnt like the fact that he was tapped out by a begginer. he was white belt too. after the session the trainer came up to me and said that he thinks that i've done six months traing in Jiu jitsu or i must be the bees knees. So im concerned that he thinks im not telling the truth. it made me a little diappointed. and i dont know whether to apprroach him again and repeat myself or WHAT??????????? what do u think i should do
Please Help? Brazilian Jiu jitsu Question?
I'd talk to the guy you tapped and clear the air there first. Be humble and apologize. Tell him that you didn't feel the tap, and make sure he's okay. Potentially, you're going to be training with this guy for a long time... maybe years. It's very possible that he did tap and you didn't notice. When your adrenaline gets going, particular when you're new, you can get excited and crank on a submission a little too much. I'm not saying you did... I'm just saying it's possible.
I wouldn't worry about the rest. Just do your best and listen to your instructors. Try to apply what you learn and get better.
Reply:You need to tell him to believe you or else...
Reply:what sort of vibe are you getting from the place?? It all sounds a little wierd to me.. why would your instructor question what you already told him.. you just need to keep in mind that if you are really keen about Bjj and intend to train on a regular basis, I would ask myself how I feel about this school and the students or instructors?? because you will end up spending alot of time with these people as you progress and if there is any doubt or ill feeling I would suggest maybe switching school?? If you really think it was just a silly missunderstanding, then I would ask you Instructor, If he thinks you are advancing at a rapid rate, to maybe have a few private lessons with you and assess your abilities and possibly move you up a class or two..
Reply:Maybe he thinks your a spy from another dojo and you've just been sandbagging all along.
Reply:thats not bjj question when you need advice on how to get out of triangle choke post a question and then ill help you. till then talk to your instructor. my husband tapped out his instructor after 1 month of training in bjj and he never even heard of the sport before then. it was an armbar if your wondering (he got lucky)
Reply:Relax. Seriously. It's a BJJ school -- your chances of getting irreversibly hurt (physically) over dojo politics are pretty minimal in that milieu. Bumps and bruises and humiliation and maybe a sprain, sure. But you signed up to learn to *fight*, yes? Just consider it all part of the training in maintaining your composure under pressure.
If the dude's got it in for you in a way that will make it hard to train there, you'll find out soon enough -- because he'll start making it hard for you to train there. If that happens, then you assess your options for avoiding him while remaining at your school, or switching to a different school.
Otherwise, just keep training. Your trainers have seen 'quick study' before; they've seen 'ego' before; they've probably seen 'sandbagging student' before, too. If they're any good, they'll be able to work out where you fit over time.
Reply:if he dosent beleive you, fine, you know its true.what does he want legal consent? a written record of your life? and as for the guy who cried to his sensai because he got beat up WHAT A JOKE
