What make george st pierre a phenomenal fighter?
He's in great shape, and a well rounded fighter. He has good ground skills and can win with submissions or with his strikes. He's very good, but I'd still bet on Matt Hughes.
Reply:you could just look him up on google

Reply:He has outstanding technique. Also I imagine he works very hard perfecting that technique.
Reply:He IS a great fighter, but does anyone really think he's going to beat Matt Hughes? You saw what happened last time (submission first round). He may be the best in Canada at 170 but not in the U.S.
Reply:Hughe's is far from invincible and one of the main reasons he effortlessly has dominated so many people is that he actually walks around at around 190lbs, and then cuts ALL THE WAY DOWN to 165. He obviously has ways of gaining his size back before the fight making him realistically about 180 or even larger. He is not 165 pounds when he fights. Some may call this cheap, I say it is intelligent, and its one of the things that alot of the good fighters in the game do.

Obviously thats not Matt's only advantage. He also has alot of skill, hes in real good shape, and hes well rounded with outstanding wrestling/grappling ability and he's just shown recently that he is pretty decent with his standup striking.

Matt Hughe's also has a great group of guys surrounding him at all time, thus including Tim Sylvia the Heavyweight champion, as well as the former middleweight champion Rich Franklin. This excellent support that Hughe's gets from these great guys plays a huge role in making Matt's mind the way it is. He is ice cold, and its not very easy to shake him as far as intimidation is concerned. Matt's got the mental edge of Mixed Martial Arts down packed. He is at the top of this department.

St. Pierre on the otherhand is also a LARGE welterweight, and hes actually a little bit bigger than Matt. Size advantage in this fight probably goes to St. Pierre, as well as his standup skill. If you've seen George fight standing up you should immedietly recognize that he is one of the top strikers in the UFC, pound for pound. Hes much better than Matt, and his movement is fluid and swift like water. Excellent form, hes orthodox, doesnt play around, and he is very precise. If you've seen St. Pierre dismantle Sean Sherk(the lightweight champ), you will recognize that St. Pierre has ALSO got outstanding wrestling ability. His wrestling ability is also very technical and fluid, and his strength and power give him a huge advantage in this area. St. Pierre's got some pretty good guys backing him up also, including David Louiseau.

Why is George so good? What is he good at? Hes good at everything, he grounded and pounded Sean Sherk out I believe. Hes got an excellent sprawl, his cardio is phenomenal, and his conditioning is superb. I honestly cant think of something that St. Pierre is lacking besides the fact that he could be at a MENTAL disadvantage going into his bout with Matt. Matt beat him the first time and George has had to sit back and watch Matt dismantle legends and great fighters for the past several months. George says he showed Matt too much respect in the first bout and he doesnt plan on doing the same thing twice. If George comes into the fight mentally strong enough to at least match Matt's mental strength, and he brings all of his other well rounded abilities with him... BAMM! He has the title hands down and all the Hughes fans will cry.
