Between Kick-Boxing, Judo, Karate, Grappling, Wrestling, Boxing and so on. Which would be the most recommended for a woman or young lady to consider first?
Fighting and Defense styles for Woman?
If you are considering this for self-defense then Krav Maga might be a good fit. It teaches defenses and attacks based on your body's natural reflexes rather than memorizing forms. Very effective and easy to pick up especially for beginners.
Basic priniciples are as follows:
* Neutralize the threat
* Avoid injury
* Go from defending to attacking as quickly as possible
* Use the body's natural reflexes
* Strike at any vulnerable point
* Use any tool or object nearby
Krav Maga incorporates techniques from various other fighting styles such as Muay Thai, boxing, Jiu Jitsu and wrestling. As such imho i believe it gives you a good foundation if you wish to branch out to other fighting styles later.
And for what its worth also happens to be an awesome workout.
Reply:It depends on what she would be comfortable with. Kick boxing is very hard on the legs (callouses and all). My personal favorites are karate and boxing. The boxing in particular is often an unexpected defense.
Reply:Id say for Self defence which i teach i use mur thai base and pick bits out of any other style. For sd it has to be easy, effective, easy and effective. Women dont practise 5 hours a week until they need it so if they can remember knees nuts and eyes, elbows, knees and thumbs i feel they will use it effectively years later
